Community Day Program
Mission
The Community Day Program at Oliver Lodge is a planned program of activities designed to enhance the quality of life for residents living in the community. We provide social, recreational, therapeutic, intellectual and spiritual activities. The Day Program operates on the premise that the provision of support services will assist the aged and those suffering form varying degrees of dementia to remain in the community as long as possible. We provide respite, education and support to participants, family members and caregivers.
About the Program
- Participants must be ambulatory or transfer from a wheelchair independently
- Participants have the option of attending the Community Day Program one day per week, to a maximum of 5 days per week
- The Community Day Program is open Monday thru Friday from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.
- Daily census: 80 spaces per week; 16 people per day, 5 days a week
- Our contracted taxi service ensures that participants arrive to and from the program safely. Participants also have the option of private transportation.
- Healthy meals and snacks are provided throughout the day.
- Educated staff ensure that a diverse program is in place each day. Some of the programs offered at the Community Day Program are:
- Balance Exercises
- Baking
- Horticulture
- Computer games
- Current Events
- Outings
- Music Programs
- Trivia
- Gross motor skills games
- Theme days
- Bath
- Hairdresser
Participants also have the option of the following services:
Eligibility and Costs
- The cost is $8.25/day. Transportation can be provided at a cost of $8.00/day and is arranged by the Director of Day Program.
- Please note that it is the policy of Oliver Lodge in the event of an injury or emergency to call an ambulance first, and then to notify family.
Billing
Participants will be charged for all scheduled days except:
- They are hospitalized or in respite
- Prearranged holidays (2 weeks advanced notification)
It is the responsibility of the participants or support person to notify the Day Program of absence prior to 9:00 am.
Accessibility
All Participants access the Community Day Program through Client Patient Access Services (CPAS).
A CPAS coordinator works with individuals and families to provide information about the Day Program. They will identify specific needs, determine eligibility, and facilitate access to the appropriate Community Day Program.

Restrictions
- Oliver Lodge is a smoke free environment
- Participants must be ambulatory or transfer from a wheelchair independently.
- Due to staffing levels, we are unable to accept individuals who present severe aggressive behavior, or require extensive 1:1 attention.
