Admissions
Admissions to Oliver Lodge for long term care, respite care and the Community Day Program are handled by the Client Patient Access Services (C.P.A.S.) at 306-655-4346. Admissions are prioritized on a district-wide basis.
The cost of accommodation is based on income and will be calculated by the Saskatchewan's Ministry of Health. For more information of calculation of fees you can phone them at 1-800-667-4884. The fee is standard in all Special Care Homes in the province. The C.P.A.S. should be able to tell you the current range of costs.
Restrictions
Admissions are restricted to people who are assessed as being on the priority waiting list at the C.P.A.S. Oliver Lodge is a smoke free residence.
Long Term Care Services
- Oliver Lodge is a home to 139 residents requiring long term care.
- The key to the success of Oliver Lodge is the concept of smaller communities with their own living & dining spaces. Consistent staffing within the communities is also important.
- The majority of the building was replaced in 2010 and features memory boxes outside each room, high quality decor & ceiling track lift systems in each room.
- The 89 new rooms have private bathrooms, while the remaining 50 rooms have semi private bathrooms.
- Services include a recreation program which is supported by volunteers, spiritual care & a physiotherapy program.
- Other services include a library & hair salon.
- Amenity space includes a large main lounge, chapel, wood working room, Snoezelen room, and destination green house.
- There is outdoor space provided for each community.
Special Features of Oliver Lodge
Dementia Care Services
- Oliver Lodge has two 16 specialized communities which are specially designed for people with dementia. Programs in this area are also specialized for people with dementia who require long term care.
- The adult day program is specialized in supporting people in earlier stages of dementia to remain in the community.
- Oliver Lodge has a partnership with the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan who work out of the Oliver Lodge site to provide education and caregiver support in Saskatoon and northern Saskatchewan.
Services for Couples
Oliver Lodge will give priority for admission to Oliver Place if their spouse is an Oliver Lodge resident.
Resident/Family Council
The Resident/Family Council at Oliver Lodge provides input and suggestions for programs and administration at Oliver Lodge. A representative of the Resident/Family Council attends scheduled meetings of the Oliver Lodge Board of Directors.
